Frequently asked questions - Learn more about titanium high performance
-
What is Titanium High Performance?
Titanium High Performance (THP) is more than a fitness service, it's a movement. Founded by me, Derek, in 2022 after 20+ years in finance, THP helps real people build strength, resilience, and confidence through accessible, expert coaching.
-
What makes you different from other PTs?
No cookie-cutter plans. No judgment. Just smart, adaptable fitness coaching. From 1-2-1 and buddy training to fully online plans, my coaching meets you where you are; and helps you go further.
-
Who’s behind Titanium high performance?
From finance to fitness, I swapped spreadsheets for squat racks in 2022. Driven by a deep belief in the power of movement for mental clarity and resilience. Encouraged by my wife and daughter, I’ve turned a personal passion into a purpose: to help others unlock strength and confidence, whatever their starting point.
-
What qualifications does Derek hold?
Derek is a fully qualified Level 3 Personal Trainer and holds a Level 3 Exercise Referral qualification. These are industry-recognised standards in the UK and form the foundation of all coaching at Titanium High Performance.
-
What does a Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification mean?
A Level 3 Personal Training qualification means Derek is trained to design safe and effective training programmes, coach strength and fitness correctly, and adapt sessions to suit different experience levels. It is the minimum qualification required to work professionally as a personal trainer in the UK and focuses on long-term, sustainable progress rather than quick fixes.
-
What is an Exercise Referral qualification?
The Level 3 Exercise Referral qualification provides additional training to work with people who may have medical conditions, previous injuries, joint or mobility limitations, or who are returning to exercise after a long period of inactivity. It focuses on adapting exercise safely and responsibly, often alongside guidance from healthcare professionals when appropriate.
-
Do I need a GP referral to train with Derek?
You do not need a GP referral to start training. The exercise referral qualification means Derek has additional knowledge to adapt training safely for people with health considerations. If further medical input is needed, this will be discussed openly and sensibly.
-
are your plans suitable if I’m new to training or returning after time off?
Yes. Many Titanium High Performance clients are beginners or returning to training after a break. Derek’s coaching style is supportive, structured, and realistic, helping you build confidence and strength at a pace that suits your starting point.
-
Can training be adapted if I have an injury or health condition?
Training is adapted based on your individual history, current ability, and how your body responds to exercise. Where something falls outside appropriate scope, Derek will be upfront and help guide you towards the right next step.
-
What does Titanium High Performance really stand for?
THP is built on the belief that fitness should be inclusive, empowering, and personal. I focus on holistic wellness, not just appearance. Combining expert coaching, non-judgmental support, and adaptable plans that fit your life.
-
Is fitness just about how you look?
I believe fitness is about more than aesthetics. It’s about energy, mental clarity, and feeling strong in your own skin. My mission is to help you build lasting strength both physically and mentally, through personalised coaching that works with your real life, not against it.
-
